No! I think that would be even worse! I don't want Leia-san to die! I don't ever want that to happen to her! She's...she's just not here anymore. I think she might have went back home.
[For better or for worse] And it kind of stinks too.
What would you do? If you suddenly found out that someone close to you wasn't here anymore? Because I know crying wouldn't make her come back and I know she wouldn't want to see me sad either.
It wasn't quite the same, but...a few years ago, I lost someone very dear to me as well. Because of something I...well, something my sister did. I thought I would never see him again, and it hurt so bad that I locked myself in my room and cried until I thought I'd run out of tears completely.
[She wasn't...expecting the comfort, but it was a welcome surprise. Her expression quickly softened, and she wrapped her arms around the small boy, placing a hand atop his head. Smiling.]
I'm alright, Takeru.
You needn't worry about me. Besides...I found him again. Or he found me. Twice.
[This wasn't necessarily a topic she would discuss with a child...but, since there was no reason to divulge all the horrible details, and he seemed to cheer up a little at the thought....]
That's right. He found me in the first ViViD game I showed up in. That was the second time.
The first time was back home. We hadn't seen each other in over five years, until he showed up at the Temple I lived at.
[Somehow, it was much easier to admit as much aloud to a child than...well, to even Phoenix himself. She hardly even blushed.]
What about you? Is there anyone you like very much?
[It was also that much easier to turn the question right around. Not that she was anticipating a real answer. He was only...what, seven? Too young, in her mind, to feel for someone what she felt for Phoenix.]
I'm trying to decide what I should do for Polly's birthday! I'm either going to give him a surprise party or a normal one, but I'm not sure which is best? I asked Daddy, but he was just like "whatever you think is best, Trucy" which is super sweet but super unhelpful! Do you have any ideas??
[ the non-surprise party, which of course means trucy would give him a surprise party ]
Hmmm. Yeah, I get the feeling he'd be happy either way, though.
[ A GIANT LIE ]
Well, which would you prefer? If it were me, I'd like a surprise party, and I'm pretty sure Daddy would be happy either way. Mr. Gavin would be happy as long as he was the center of attention, and Uncle Miles would haaaaate a surprise party.
[There was a notable delay on Iris' end, because she had to stop and think about it. No one had really ever...asked her that question before, and while Sister Bikini had always taken great care to make sure she was honored on her birthday, surprise parties had always been out of the question, given their living situation.]
I'm not sure, actually.
I suppose as long as I get to spend time with the people precious to me, it wouldn't matter.
[Being the center of a lot of attention, though? No, thank you. She would never have even posed for that picture if Sister Bikini hadn't insisted.]
[...although...]
Mr. Edgeworth is a very reserved person. I can understand that, and do think it should be respected.
[ HMMM. Well, if she isn't SURE, clearly that's free reign to do whatever Trucy wants to do. And since she prefers surprise parties, she will just recommend that.
...Plus lunch with Dad to get Iris out of the way while they set up, although the reason is really more like "go on a daaaaaaaaate already". ]
Yeah, I wouldn't throw him a surprise party - people should be happy on their birthdays! We could always throw him a surprise party on like, an entirely different day for the purpose of annoying him or something.
I'm joking, but.
Soooo how are you settling in? Have you made any good friends?
[ It won't be anything on Klavier's party...probably more lowkey, but with Everyone Iris Cares About there, since that's the only thing she said she specifically wanted.
SPEAKING OF... ]
Ooooh, what are their names? I wonder how many of them I know!
ViViD DOES get easier as you go, a little! We should totally do a group game together sometime, too.
You want me to list all of them? I'm...not sure I could.
I mean, there was Miss Rei, of course. She grew up in a similar life as I did, so it was nice to meet someone with that in common. And little Takeru, of course. He's a sweet boy. And Alice. And Mr. Kaneda. And that one point...the one who always looks so sad all the time. Heero. And that strange boy who knew about possession...
[Merlin]
Oh, and of course, there's all the people from the same world as us, but from different points in time.
